UNESCO’s award for monument conservation, granted to the House of Wisdom this year, has been exhibited and can be viewed during events in the building’s community space.

UNESCO’s International Council on Monuments and Sites, the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS has honoured the restoration of the former Buda Town Hall with the ICOMOS Prize. The Committee explained that the award was earned by the exemplary care with which the restoration had been carried out, and the modesty and organising presence of contemporary elements.

The Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS awarded this year’s ICOMOS prizes on World Heritage Day, April 25, 2019. Every year since 2006, the organisation has honoured with certificates the most remarkable monument restoration projects which had been completed within the last three years. This year, four reconstructions, including that of the House of Wisdom, received the recognition of the Committee.
